IF MY PEOPLE
How can we stop or turn around this “run away train” in America? None of us likes the direction our country is going.. Crime is out of control. People are killing one another left and right. These are not the “best of times.”
I believe, as we get closer to the end of the world, things will get worse in America and the world, unless we get back to God. Sadly, there are many in our country who want God removed from this land. They fail to see that without God there is no hope for any of us.
The solution for our woes is God and His Word, the Bible. After Solomon built the temple, the Lord appeared to him and said, “IF MY PEOPLE, WHO ARE CALLED BY MY NAME, WILL HUMBLE THEMSELVES AND PRAY AND SEEK MY FACE AND TURN FROM THEIR WICKED WAYS, THEN WILL I HEAR FROM HEAVEN AND WILL FORGIVE THEIR SIN AND WILL HEAL THEIR LAND.” 2 Chronicles 7:13,14.
These words are true for us. God is saying that when trouble comes, and we are in deep trouble in America, My people must do certain things if they want my blessings and protection. Notice that he says, “IF MY PEOPLE.” God’s people today are Christians. God is looking to His church to position themselves in order for God to pour out His blessings on the land.
THERE ARE FOUR THINGS THAT GOD IS LOOKING FOR FROM HIS PEOPLE:
HUMILITY, PRAYER, SEEKING GOD, AND TURNING FROM SIN.
Humility is to think more of God than we think of ourselves. It is to acknowledge that God has the answer for our problems and not man. Our attitude must be, “We Need You, Lord.” We are also to pray. Prayer shows our dependancy upon God. Do you pray for wisdom? Do you pray for your family? Do you pray for America? Do you pray for God to use you in His Kingdom?
We are also to seek God. Get into His Word, the Bible. While we speak to God in prayer, He speaks to us through His Word. Sadly, there are many in our society who want to rid the world of the Bible. God’s Word is still “A lamp to my feet and a light for my path.” Psalm 119:105.
We are also to turn from sin. Sin is defined, clearly, in the Bible. We need to stand against the immorality that is running wild in this country. God defines sin, not man. The solution for our woes is found in 2 Chronicles 7:13,14. Let’s turn back to God. Let’s call on His Name and pray that He will bless our land and the people of this land.
NATIONAL PRAYER CLINIC
Bob will be leading the singing for the National Prayer Clinic in Grundy, Virginia, October 10-12 for the 28th straight year. I hope to see many of our friends on the mountain.
I like to golf Two weeks ago I played at a nine hole course. The owner’s wife was working in the clubhouse. I told her I was a preacher and she said that she was an unhappy Roman Catholic. She disagreed with much of their teaching. I told her that I disagreed with their teaching on baptism. I shared several scriptures with her. I gave her my card and she called me. PRAISE GOD! I immersed her into Christ on Saturday, September 23rd. THERE IS POWER IN THE WORD!
BAPTISMAL WATERS STIRRED AGAIN
PRAISE THE LORD...David reported a baptism at the Milmay Christian Church in September.
ON THE FIRING LINE
We continue to spread the Word of God in New Jersey. Thanks to you, we are able to share the Good News with others. Bob continues to write this newsletter each month and to post a daily article on Facebook. We have almost 800 friends on our Facebook. I am trying to encourage God’s people with messages from the Word of God.
Pray for our evangelists and their families. Bob’s health is much better. Karen had two surgeries on her fingers this past month. She didn’t miss a Sunday at the keyboard. Also, Karen will celebrate her 79th birthday this month. Remember, God still cares and so do we!
